Inside the shower, a generously sized niche provides lots of space for shampoo and soaps. The controls for the shower are at the left, which allows a warmup of the water without getting wet first. The shower floor is pebbles with natural stone on all walls. It's hard to know whether that vanity or the shower is the star here. The shower benefits from a relocated and re-sized window, which provides a narrow, obscured-glass peek of natural light, while illuminated from above with a new solar-powered operable skylight. It is full depth, using all the space that had been unused with the tub installation.

The partition to the right helps contain spray, while the step-off area is an ideal location for the towel warmer and a robe hook. The niche had to be located precisely so that it would fit exactly in the vertical width of the tiles.

The new sink and faucet are contemporary, with clean lines. The countertop is Vetrazzo, a terrazzo composite with aggregate in cool blue colors. Bubble tile at the backplash bubbles up over the light switch. At the end of the countertop, the tile flows down the wall and into a pool on the floor, a unique and colorful installation. The strand bamboo floors were routered out ahead of the tile installation, then the grout was installed right up to the flooring. After seeing how great it looked at the vanity, the clients decided to repeat the pool at the tub/shower area. The results are striking. Custom tile bathroom Seattle
