Home Addition Seattle - Contemporary Custom Addition Seattle

2010 REX Award winner
2010 Chrysalis Award winner

The kitchen is the heart of this home with bright, fresh colors that are contemporary and compelling. Along with the colorful custom cabinets and mosaic tile, this addition for two gourmet cooks includes a light-filled home office, a comfortable guest bath and a double bank of built-in cabinets that masquerades as a hall. This addition fits seamlessly into the original shape of the 1908 bungalow, and conceals super-insulation in walls and ceilings. Completed Fall, 2009.

The unique kitchen is the superstar in this Main level addition and lower level addition that includes double gables, a full gourmet kitchen remodel, a spa-like guest bath, a light-filled home office and clever built-in storage. This kitchen doesn't just look good'it's made for production. Low-maintenance Paperstone counters, a warming drawer, and a two-drawer dishwasher make the kitchen look great during dinner parties and the cleanup easy The star of the show is the hand-cut mosaic glass tile, designed and crafted by one of the owners. The swirls of color compliment the multi-colored cabinets At the framing stage, this corner of the kitchen looked too dark. The solution: a small peekaboo window at counter level that brings in light and from the outside, provides a little window into the welcoming and colorful kitchen inside. It's a unique and creative solution that brings extra interest to this modern kitchen addition Just steps from the kitchen is a new office that is home to the owner's graphic design company. The new Marvin windows match the style of the original home The home office has glass double pocket doors on two walls, which allows for noise control when necessary, but keeps light flowing through the room. Seattle major remodel Talk about good space planning: This cabinet-filled hall provides access to the kitchen from the living room, and tons of storage. The coffered ceiling makes it feel like its own room The custom cabinets have the same unique bead detail on the doors. The small counter area is perfect for serving drinks during parties The tile and finishes in the guest bath are worthy of a master suite: Maniscolo Gosford glass tile runs throughout, with Marmoleum flooring as a color accent, a master suite addition Seattle The mirror on the recessed medicine cabinet makes the room feel larger, while the high window in the shower brings in natural light and ventilation The exterior remodel features a double gable roof with a collector box for rain water. The knee posts match the ones at the existing roof line Before: Ready for the Seattle whole house remodel Before: A crowded, outdated kitchen, in need of a Seattle major remodel Kitchen bliss ' a space made for gourmet meals and fabulous parties, contemporary custom addition
