A classic look: brick at the foundation, with board and batten at the second story.
Before: A small bungalow with a basement where you're bound to hit your head.
The solution: removing the slab and digging down. We took out the foundation in 4-foot sections and poured a new, lower foundation to create excellent head height.
Before pouring the new slab, we installed rigid insulation. That prevents the radiant heating tubes in the slab from heating up the ground instead of the basement.
Framing included rebuilding the main floor structurally from the inside out, and then adding a second story with gable dormers on one side and a shed dormer on the other.
The new second floor is a complete master suite with full bath and its own balcony.
The result is a charming home with Cascade views, all ready for a talented owner who is completing the finishes himself
The new addition is complete with board and batten at the second story.
