The new deck is expansive, and takes advantage of an area that was simply a flat roof. The entire area was re-framed to carry the additional weight and the Weatherdek surface is both attractive and functional. Now there's no trouble seeing the Olympics.
Glass railings keep the views open, and give a bit of wind protection on cool evenings.
The new stairs have masonry steps for aesthetics and function. A middle 'resting step' gives a chance to catch your breath on the way up. The landing at the bottom is a small addition on the main floor deck.
A touch added after the project was under way: new stacked cultured stone installed over what was a plain painted concrete wall. The stone adds color and interest to the entry.
Before: A simple contemporary entry.
After: an entry with interest and accessibility. The views are spectacular, and the new outdoor living space is used regularly by the owners.
