Business awards are wonderful to receive. They are affirmations from business peers that the work you do is exceptional and makes a difference. They also let our clients know that our company stands out not just for the work we do, but also for those with whom we compete for business.
This year we are honored to accept two awards from two different local business groups. They celebrate what we do and how we do it, and we couldn’t be more proud.
In early June we learned we were to be the recipients of the West Seattle Chamber of Commerce’s 2013 Westside Business of the Year award. The chamber received dozens of nominations for this award, which celebrates businesses that “demonstrate success and innovation that contribute to this thriving economic region.”
We have been members of the West Seattle Chamber of Commerce for many years and value the organization for its advocacy, its educational events and opportunities to learn about neighborhood businesses in “after hours” open houses. It’s a group that is built on community, collaboration and the power of networking.
Receiving this award was particularly meaningful to us because we were singled out among all of the businesses in West Seattle, not just those in construction. One of the driving factors in our selection was the work we do in our community, from supporting local non-profits, schools and sports teams to contributing toward the citywide fireworks show. We believe contributing and participating in the area where you work is not just an option but an obligation to help create a thriving and vibrant community. Later in the month we received a Remodeling Excellence (REX) award from the Master Builder’s Association Remodelers Council for a main floor remodeling project completed this year in West Seattle.

The project, designed by Nazim Nice of Motionspace Architecture + Design, was quite unusual, taking a ridiculously huge main floor spa bath and turning it into four new living areas–laundry, powder bath, desk and living room. More photos here on our website.
We have also been members of the MBA and its Remodeler’s Council for many years, and for similar reasons to those for being chamber members: advocacy, education and networking. As members of the Remodeler’s Council we are in good company with high-quality, professional remodelers who build beautiful projects while providing excellent customer service. That makes receiving a REX award a high honor because all of the projects and companies under consideration are of such high caliber.
This all circles around to saying a big thank you: to our clients for trusting us with their projects, to the architects and designers we work with for inspiring design and collaboration, and to the industry groups we belong to for providing educational, networking and other opportunities to excel and be recognized. You all help us thrive, make us better and allow us to support you in return. Now that’s win-win.
