The kitchen features custom quartered walnut cabinets with lush wood tones and ample storage opportunities

The island is also in walnut, with quartz Pental Lattice countertops to match, and installed in a waterfall style at the raised counter

There’s also a drawer microwave in the island for easy access

The backsplash is a custom glass tile from Pental called Midnight 4x24 and is best viewed in person to see the subtle colors and their play with the cabinets and the deep blue of the water just outside the window. It nestles in between lighter-colored Teqa Blanco tile from Statements

The previous island had run into the floor, with a baseboard around it, making it read like a wall. The new design, with soapstone counters and room for the slide-in range, makes it a centerpiece of the kitchen

The island stove employs an unusual flush-mount hood for ventilation. This was chosen to avoid blocking the expansive view of the Olympics from that spot in the kitchen

All of the perimeter counters are in quartz, with under-cabinet lighting

Now the kitchen successfully integrates design elements from the adjacent rooms, functions as it should, and has a view inside that rivals the one outside

The solution was to bring down the dividing walls, opening the space and bringing light from the front, West-facing windows, all the way to the kitchen

Quartered walnut custom cabinets bring rich wood tones to a kitchen that is otherwise finished with lighter colors and spare finishes, with shelving over the sink

They combine beautifully with the Serra quartz counters by Pental and Parc series backsplash tile

The same cabinets are used in multiple locations to create storage and a bar area

The finished spaces show all the problems solved. A new peninsula opens up the dining room to the kitchen, new wood flooring planes out with adjacent wood flooring, and the diagonal wall is gone from the mudroom

The new range and exhaust hood provide modern convenience, set off by subtle quartz counters by Pental. The range is also a huge improvement over the previous range, which sat by itself on an adjacent wall, blocking the flow of traffic. Brightly painted walls bring a pop of color to this otherwise neutral space

The new counters are laminate, but with an improvement over the old: a brushed aluminum vertical edge to match appliances and the sink and faucet

The island is long enough that it includes the display case and ample room for seating. The waterfall counter installation to the right of the seating area encloses that space, and under-cabinet lighting illuminates both areas.

The other side of the island includes the gas range and a drawer microwave. Beyond, the cabinets have an inset desk area and room for cat dishes below. The cabinets there now go all the way to the ceiling, thanks to the removal of the soffit there. Separate fridge and freezer appliances make for a double-wide refrigeration system perfect for parties

At the sink, an in-counter Blanco compost container makes it easy to clean up from prep work

By pushing back the East wall, the kitchen gets a larger footprint. That allows room for an elegant island with substantial storage and a bar eating area. Bookmatched cherry cabinets define the room and a stunning track light with Onyx shades supplements the lighting plan. The Vesuvio Oro slab required careful fabrication, yielding an interesting counter with visual depth

By rebuilding the West wall, a wall of windows is possible, with countertops that die into the sill--an inspiring place to wash dishes

The revised kitchen deletes that cooking area, and has custom horizontal grain fir cabinets and concrete countertops. The fir continues in a cap at the half wall that divides the kitchen from the living room

The vision was for a kitchen that both drew people in without making them feel like they were entering a cave room

The island hood became a major feature of the kitchen. The stove was previously on the opposite wall, and by moving it to a peninsula the stove becomes a focal point in the kitchen. Kitchen remodel Seattle

A main goal of the project was to remove a wall that separated a sitting area from the kitchen. Now those spaces are connected visually, with a long counter overhang allowing for bar seating

Under-cabinet lighting at the upper cabinets with glass fronts on both sides sheds light on the task counters below.. The Puc lights inside those cabinets also illuminate stemware from each room. Seattle custom kitchen cabinet

The area behind the old stove was a full bath. By removing that, new cabinets are closer to the rear wall, opening up additional floor space for a full wall of pantry cabinets

It also allows room for a wet bar with a pass-through to the deck

The custom-built mahogany cabinets have classic lines and detailing with old-world charm without being over the top. They also include modern conveniences like a warming drawer and cook's range

Looking in the other direction is a doorway to the old office'completely rebuilt

Making the sill height consistent at the windows makes all the difference. The new backsplash is a scant 4 inches to maximize window size and take in all the views and light. Modern kitchen remodel Seattle

Now a Wolf drawer microwave has a home on the peninsula and a Subzero fridge is all on its own with floor to ceiling cabinetry for company

The door to the side yard is relocated into the corner, leaving an open wall for a message center and plenty of space for the Subzero fridge and floor-to-ceiling pantry storage

The clear centerpiece of the kitchen, though, is the Wolf range, particularly because it is visible from all the common rooms. The stainless hood anchors it along with a small upper cabinet. There was talk of using a stainless backsplash, but the clients opted for more of the glass backsplash tile instead. Epoxy grout was used to make it as easy to clean as possible

The cabinets are mix of mahogany and painted, with the painted cabinets in the kitchen proper and the mahogany on the dining room side and in the butler's pantry/desk area

The kitchen is outfitted with a mix of styles that work well together: the farm-style sink and traditional chrome fixtures blend with flashy copper pots and a honed quartz countertop

On the adjacent wall, there's the Liebherr fridge and a wine cooler/bar area. Note the arch that divides that area

This kitchen doesn't just look good - it's made for production. Low-maintenance Paperstone counters, a warming drawer, and a two-drawer dishwasher make the kitchen look great during dinner parties and the cleanup easy

The star of the show is the hand-cut mosaic glass tile, designed and crafted by one of the owners. The swirls of color compliment the multi-colored cabinets, custom kitchen tile backsplash

At the framing stage, this corner of the kitchen looked too dark. The solution: a small peekaboo window at counter level that brings in light

The open floor plan places the dining room and kitchen side by side. The views of Lake Washington area great, but so are the views of the kitchen

Custom cherry cabinets from Baywood Cabinets provide a colorful counterpoint to the oak flooring. A dedicated kitchen desk area keeps everyone in the family organized. And Golden Oasis granite counters reflect the blue skies and blue waters of Lake Washington outside

New windows at the old service porch help create a comfy eating bar with a view and make this small space feel expansive

Everything in this kitchen is chosen for efficiency and compactness. The gas stove is small but very functional. Custom fir cabinets are used to clad everything, including the exhaust hood

That's an extra-skinny Sub-Zero fridge behind the fir panel on the left. The farmhouse sink with wall-mounted faucet gives the kitchen a bit of a country feel

On the opposite side of the kitchen is a wall of built-in custom cabinetry, complete with old-fashioned bubbly glass. The new door to the deck is a custom French door, complete with a Cremone bolt. All of the switches are traditional push-button, with a dark finish, a perfect Seattle custom kitchen cabinet

It's a whole new era for this 50s rambler kitchen. Not a single wall moved, but this transformation is total. Modern cabinets, a green countertop from Squak Mountain Stone, and cool recycled glass tiles bring this kitchen remodel into the new century. Modern galley kitchen
